history it all began in the mid 1600s when a generation of north berwick witches narrowly escaped their death and sought refuge in poland. after centuries had passed protecting their fate and learning magic, a young orphaned boy was left wandering the village of paczkow alone. with wild, jet black hair and a troublesome, fearless nature, he was bound to find himself in harms way. it caught the attention of a necromancer with a dark secret, who "rescued" the boy and took him under his wing.

but what happened to the boy's family is a chilling tale of kidnap and murder. the andrysiaks were a small, well-respected family of magic users who garnered the attention of locals with their healing powers and psychic abilities. maja and syzmon had two loving (but very mischievous) sons with a natural gift for magic. kasmir, the oldest of the two and the youngest jakub, who looked up to his brother's gift to cast illusions and manipulate fire. at first, his parents thought he was a natural born mage, but a century-old pact with a demon they would take to their grave made them think otherwise. ultimately, it was their ability to read the future — or perhaps it was something much darker that would soon seal their family's fate.

it was 1781 and a war against the supernatural was on the rise. a rebellious and extremist clan of vampires raided the city of kalisz, making their way into villages and waged war against the townspeople. the andrysiaks warned them of an oncoming war, but much to their dismay, they couldn't predict when war would strike. while the family was in the midst of leaving poland, it was much too late. kasmir awoke to blood curdling screams in the middle of the night, the town nearly engulfed in flames as he rushed to find his brother missing, and even worse, his parents slain across their bed.

after leaving paczkow for a small village on the outskirts of poland, kasmir would spend years searching for his brother, questioning why he wasn't murdered along with his parents. but it was here when he was taken in by a coven of witches, praising him with the attention he longed craved. but there was a dark side to them, one that meant harvesting souls to demons in exchange for power and life span. the head of the coven, a warlock who killed a prince to ascend the ranks of power had taken kasmir under his wing. but no pact was needed for kasmir, as his great grandfather had made a deal with a demons to curse a member of his family in exchange for power, prestige and wealth. it was clear the true enemy was a member of his own family but he would spend the next century inherently wreaking havoc while desperately trying to lift the curse and hunt down the vampires who murdered his parents and took his brother.

it wasn't until the mid 90s, when kasmir met his first dark fae who took pity on his soul. after befriending the warlock, she helped him lift the burden of his curse to begin a new life. before sending him on his way, she gifted him the knowledge that his brother was still alive in scotland, but to beware of his location. with hope re-, he spent the next thirty years searching for his brother only to realize an unfamiliar, ominous kind of magic blocked his ability to find him. it tormented kasmir day after torturous day, but it wasn't until he met a leprechaun when his entire world changed.
